A shelf everyone can see
What the club is reading now, what is up next with a start date on it, and everything it has finished. One list, kept by whoever runs the club — and when the club cannot decide what is next, put it to a vote.
A thread that stays put
Start a discussion and it keeps its own page, with its replies attached and the book it is about beside it. It does not slide up the screen the moment somebody posts a photo of their dog.
A roster, not a guess
Who is in the club and when they joined. Send one link to the whole group — it does not expire — or invite people by email, so each of them gets their own.
Your own shelves too
A library that is yours rather than any club’s: what you are reading, what you want to read, what you finished and what you made of it. Bring it over from Goodreads in one upload.
You get told when a thread gets a reply, a book lands on the shelf, or a vote opens — inside the app, plus one email when a book on your shelf is about to start, which you can turn off. Reactions, meeting planning and reading-progress tracking are not built, and we would rather say so than let you find out after you have moved your club over.
Questions worth asking first
Can I move a club I already run?
That is who this is for. Create the club, add the books you have read and the one you are on, then send the group the invite link. Old chat history does not come with you — the reading list and the threads start here.
Who can see my club?
A public club can be found and joined by anyone signed in. A private club cannot. In both cases the reading list, the discussions and the member list are visible only once you are a member — a public club is open to join, not open to read.
How do people join?
Three ways. Share the club’s link, which works for the whole group and does not expire. Invite someone by email, which sends them their own link — and if we have run out of room, that invitation is what still gets them in. Or add them by username if they already have an account.
Do my friends have to wait?
Normally nobody waits — anyone can make an account and follow your club’s link straight in. It only matters if we are at capacity: an email invitation from someone already here still goes through, while the shared link puts them on the waitlist with everyone else. So if we are ever full, send the email to the people you actually want in the room.
Can I bring my books across from Goodreads?
Yes. Export your library from Goodreads and upload the CSV; your shelves, ratings and finish dates come with it. Your library is private until you choose to show it to other members, and importing does not change that.
Will I know when someone replies?
Yes, inside the app: new discussions, replies, books added to the shelf, votes opening and people joining all land in your notifications. The one email is a calendar note — when a book on your club’s shelf is about to start — and you can turn it off in your profile. There is no push notification. Nothing here is a firehose trying to get you to open it.
Who can change the reading list?
The person who created the club. There are no admin or moderator roles yet, so everyone else can read the list, start discussions, reply and vote.
How does the club pick the next book?
Put it to a vote. Whoever runs the club starts one — books from the shelf, or any question written out — with a closing date shown up front. Everyone in the club gets one vote and can change it until the poll closes, and the ballot is open: the club can see the tally and who voted for what, and the page says so before you vote. Closed polls stay on the page as a record of what was decided.
Is there a mobile app?
Not in an app store. It is a website built to work properly on a phone browser — and you can install it from the browser, so it opens from your home screen like an app. Nothing else to download.
What happens when you’re full?
We are keeping this small on purpose while it is early, so that we can fix what breaks before the next group arrives. If we reach the number of accounts we can look after properly, new signups join a waitlist until there is room, and an email invitation from someone already here works either way. None of this is about you; it is about how many people we can carry at once.
